Gas and water supplies in your home are something you do not want to leave in the hands of an engineer who does not have the proper qualifications. You may think you can save on costs but someone who isn’t properly trained could cause severe damage to your home, not to mention compromise your safety and cost you a huge amount more in the long run.
Here at Heatworks we only use engineers that are listed on the Gas Safe Register so we can be confident all work taken out by our team is completed to the highest standards.
What is the Gas Safe Register?
You may have previously been familiar with CORGI, which was replaced in 2009 by the Gas Safe Register. What they offer is a list of registered gas engineers that meet their standards to work safely and legally on boilers, fires and all other gas appliances.
The aim of the Gas Safe Register is to make sure all engineers are qualified to work with gas and continue to improve and maintain gas safety to the highest standard.
The Gas Safe Register prevents unsafe gas workers from trading through:
- A national investigations team that track down illegal gas workers
- Regular inspections of Gas Safe registered engineers
- Educating consumers and raising awareness of gas safety
- Investigating reports of unsafe gas work
What can you expect from your Gas Safe registered engineer?
Our Gas Safe Engineers will:
- Supply relevant qualifications
- Renew registration every year
- Issue you with a Gas Safe Record on completion of work
- Provide you with a Building Regulation Compliance Certificate for new boiler installations
All engineers need to supply relevant qualifications and have evidence of their competence before they can be Gas Safe registered. They also need to renew their registration each year meaning you know your engineer is working to the latest industry standards.
When your Gas Safe engineer completes work on your property they will issue you with a Gas Safe Record, which details their work and gives you a record that your appliances have been checked and met the appropriate safety standards.
If your engineer is installing a new boiler you will also receive a Building Regulations Compliance Certificate, you’ll need to keep it in a safe place as it’ll be useful should you decide to sell your home or re-mortgage.
